Wastewater Treatment System
Client: Kennecott Utah Copper
Features: Land Pumping Stations and Treatment Plant Information AES provided complete contract operation and maintenance of the Kennecott Wastewater Treatment System. The Kennecott Land project is comprised of two pumping stations that can deliver between 600 and 4000 gpm from the North Jordan Canal and the Utah/Salt Lake Canal to a treatment plant. The plant consists of Alum injection to precipitate solids, up flow type sand filters with continuous backwash, a pumping skid to convey pressurized irrigation water and piping to convey treated water to Oquirrh Lake. AES has been operating and maintaining this system since 2005. This includes all daily O&M needs as well as several projects that have been completed by AES throughout the years. |
Drinking Water Pumping and Distribution System
Client: Emigration Improvement District (EID)
Features: Complete contract operation and maintenance of system EID is a drinking water system located in Emigration Canyon. It supplies drinking water to approximately 400 homes located throughout the canyon including Killians and Burr Fork canyons. The supply water for the system is provided by three wells. There is a one million gallon storage tank and a three hundred thousand gallon storage tank which provide adequate storage for use and fire fighting. All homes within the system have a water meter and because of the elevation changes there are many PRV’s located throughout the system. All water from the wells is measured and disinfected with liquid Sodium Hypo-chlorite. AES has provided ongoing and complete operations and maintenance of the EID water system since 1990. This includes all daily O&M needs as well as all testing and other regulatory requirements. |
Sewage Treatment Plant
Client: Kennecott Utah Copper
Features: Complete contract operation and maintenance of system The Kennecott Utah Copper Sewage Treatment Facility is located near the refinery in Magna Utah. There are five Separate sanitary waste streams that the plant treats. The plant is an extended aeration activated sludge plant and has current capacity of 100,000 gallons per day. It contains a surge tank, two separate clarifiers that run in series and a disinfection system which utilizes gaseous chlorine and two chlorine contact basins. AES has been operating and maintaining this plant since 1994. This includes all daily O&M needs as well as several projects and upgrades that have been completed by AES throughout the years. |
